What is new in the second generation

How finding a lost item works
When the AirTag is nearby, Find My can play its sound or use directional Precision Finding on compatible hardware. When it is farther away, nearby Apple devices can anonymously relay its location through the Find My network. Lost Mode also lets someone tap the AirTag with an NFC-capable phone to view the owner’s contact message, if the owner has supplied one.
Compatibility requirements
